Flipboard. Power your perspective.
During my short time here at Flipboard, I've had the chance to help on several amazing projects. And today, we're launching one of my faves! One of the beauties of Flipboard is that it can be many things to many people. I love this multifaceted functionality and this is a peek into how Flipboard manifests itself for power-user Adam Reineck, a San Francisco-based industrial design director.

Adam leads a team of designers dedicated to crafting solutions to humanitarian needs around the world. He uses Flipboard to power his team’s imagination, creativity, and global perspective. But Adam is more than just a designer. He’s a cycling enthusiast, a passionate foodie, and loves to travel. And outside of using Flipboard to strengthen his design skills—he also leverages it to fuel all of his interests.

And finally, this video proves without a doubt that yes oh yes, hipsters love Flipboard too.

BMW + Instagram Video
So BMW just posted an Instagram video that I think I've now watched like 45 times. What sells me on this is not just the car—which is the stunning Euro-spec forbidden fruit known as the 1er hatch—it's also the vibe and editing. The music's pretty meh, but I'll admit that I'm looking at video on Instagram in a different light thanks to this one. Nicely done BMW.

Vossen Rims: Better than the Big Brands
It's kinda crazy how sometimes the smaller companies that revolve around the bigger brands seem to 'get it' much more than the big boys. High-end rim manufacturer Vossen recently released a nicely produced piece of branded content featuring skater Joey Brezinski and his stunning Audi A7.

The interesting thing about this is that it's a great piece of promotion for Audi and it's done in a way that genuinely attracts me to the car. I think it works so well because it's not the brand itself, so they don't feel the need to shove the product down my throat.
Big brands should definitely take note. This is the way to produce slick, sticky branded content. Don't make it so much about your product, make it about the lifestyle you facilitate.

Love from Land Rover
I stumbled on this video by Land Rover yesterday, along with many of you... I'm sure. I love that a brand would go to this degree of awesomeness. It's a lesson to all autobrands (and all brands in general for that matter) on the type of content we want you to create.
No joke... I got choked up watching this one. And wow, what a fantastic follow up to The Vanishing Game.

VSCO vs. OMFGCO
Time for a stroll down inspiration alley. Loving this video interview by Visual Supply Co. with the creative directors at Official Mfg. Co.
Yes, lotsa super Portlandia branding and graphic design going on in this piece, but man... it gets me excited to go eat at Olympic Provisions and Clyde Common again... or at least their Brooklyn equivalents.

The Sound of Senna
This is an interesting and pretty cool take on an experimental tribute to classic F1 racer Ayrton Senna by Honda.

Branded Content Done Right
Been having some really interesting conversations with folks lately about the dos and don'ts of brand content. There's a such a fine line and a balance that needs to be achieved in order to make something that'll really resonate with—not just anyone—but the right audience of brand evangelists who'll then spread the good word on your brand's behalf.
This short film about Justin Vernon from Bon Iver does just that for Red Wing. Thanks for the heads up @Upto12.

Play the Road
So I'm a little late to the game on this one, but I just stumbled on this pretty stellar experiment concocted late last year by Tribal Worldwide in London for the launch of the 2014 Volkswagen GTI. Partnering with musicians from Underworld along with sound designer Nick Ryan and producer Yuli Levtov, Tribal created an application that translates the movement of the car into an original musical arrangement, essentially making the GTI a musical instrument and the driver both the musician and composer.
Taking the values generated from the speed, direction and acceleration/deceleration of the GTI—complex algorithms (a.k.a. robots) translate the data into some hauntingly beautiful tunes that perfectly accompany your driving style in real time. Here's some pretty fantastic behind the scenes footage... now if they can only determine how to make this a public app!
And here's a live-drive performance. Enjoy!

JCVD + Volvo
This is just one of those epic, yet beyond simple TV spots that's just weird enough to work. Enjoy.

Automotive Zoetrope
Not to be confused with American Zoetrope, the smart marketers at Forza Motorsport create an automotive zoetrope to tout the game's 5th edition. This life-sized, McLaren-powered flipbook animation makes for what is easily one of my fave commercials of the year thus far. Thanks for the heads up JamFactory!
